Adam Montgomery

Name: Adam Montgomery

How long have you been training with Paramount Fitness?
3 months

What Programme are you signed up to?
Small Group Personal Training

Before starting with Paramount Fitness, describe your state of health, fitness and general well-being.
Before joining PF I went travelling around South East Asia and Australia for 5 month, which effected my fitness and health drastically due to heavy alcohol consumption, bad eating habits and a lack of exercise. On my return I had put on a bit of weight and increased my body fat percentage (not a lot as im naturally lean and find it hard to put on weight) but it was my fitness that had decreased the most.

What was the pivotal point which made you get in contact with Paramount Fitness?
Seeing my brother (a Paramount Fitness member) getting into better shape and becoming stronger than me.

What were your goals back then?
To get my body fat percentage down to 10% whilst also trying to bulk up and increase strength.

How did you feel after your first training session?
Horrible, I was sick into a mop bucket and had to walk through a full boot camp session with the bucket to empty it outside ha!

What have you achieved to date?
I have drastically increased my fitness level to its highest yet, become much leaner by reducing my body fat to around 11% and increased muscle mass. My strength has increased dramatically and im now lifting weights I never thought I would.

What emotional boundaries have you had to overcome, which have been tough, but you knew you had to, to get the results you wanted?
Changing the way I eat was difficult. Bread, rice and pasta had been a big part of my diet before and during travelling so cutting these out was difficult at first but I soon became used to it. With help from the trainers at Paramount I adapted the use of foods such as bread and rice into post workout meals or cheat meals which meant I could utilise these type of foods to my advantage to become leaner and help increase my muscle mass.

Why were achieving the above results so important to you?
I dont like to feel unfit and out a of shape, improving my fitness level and the way I look makes me feel better about myself and makes me more confident. My job often requires me to abseil and lift my own body weight up and down ropes so maintaining a good fitness level and increasing strength is also important in my professional career. Outside of Paramount I play a lot of different sports so increasing my fitness level and strength was important to help improve my performance in sports such as football, tennis and squash.

What are the best things about training with Paramount Fitness?
The trainers have a lot of knowledge about training and nutrition and will always try to educate you about these.
Its so much better than going to a gym and has a much better atmosphere.
The training is fun and pushes you more than you ever would in a gym.
The social aspect of PF e.g monthly competitions, nights out etc.
Easy to get advice about training methods or nutrition through Facebook and email.
Sessions are easy in the way that they are all planned for you, you just have to turn up!
Eating jelly beans during a workout.

What are your goals now, moving forward?
My goals remain similar to before I started however I now want to get my body fat to below 10% and increase my strength further. Once I have achieved this I want to bulk up whilst maintaining this percentage. Dan is helping to adapt my nutrition so this can be done, by introducing a low carb diet and controlling the amount of protein, fat and carbs in each meal.

If you could sum up your experience of training with Paramount Fitness to date in under 50 words, what would you say?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience with PF to date and have been surprised how much I have achieved in just 3 months which is clearly visible on my pre and post PF pictures. I have found the more I train with PF and the more I learn about fitness and nutrition the more addictive it becomes. I am now more fully committed to staying healthy and in shape than ever.
